SHANNON MURRAY

She holds her BA From UCLA, her MSW from the UCLA School of Social Welfare and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  

She is also currently an Adjunct Lecturer at the UCLA Luskin School of Social Welfare teaching Macro Practice in Social Work and is a founding member and the current Treasurer of the Board of Directors for the Sanctuary of Hope, providing services and housing to homeless and at-risk 18 to 24 year olds. Shannon found her passion and inspiration in working with the homeless community when she was an intern in 1995 in the MSW program at UCLA.  She worked in Skid Row for almost 15 years before coming to WLCAC in 2011.  She specializes in program development and operations, community organizing, policy advocacy, grant writing, permanent supportive housing and the Housing First/Harm Reduction Philosophy.  She is very invested and vocal in the housing movement in Los Angeles, as well in the betterment of the South Los Angeles community, by working on every level- individual, community, city, county, state and federal.  Her other passions include her family, her friends, exercise, travel, cooking and the beach.
